Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
